

He was born on September 13, 1935, to Guy Henry Hensley and Lirra June Younker, in Bay City, Texas.
Mike served his county as part of the United States Air Force and later in the Army National Guard until his honorable discharge in 1960. Mike received many commendations and recognitions during his time in the armed forces.
Mike attended Southern Methodist University where he received his Bachelors' degree. Mike made a career with the National Motor Club in the Southwest Region Charter. Here, he would travel extensively and enjoy all of the sites along the way.
Mike's faith was one of the most important things in his life. As a child, his parents took him to church every Sunday and instilled a strong sense of faith in him. His involvement in the Second Baptist Church led him to meet his beloved wife, Frances Gonzales Pazmares. After 3 years of dating, they were wed on January 12th, 2021, and spent 5 beautiful years together. They became strong members of the LDS Church.
Music brought Mike immense joy. His love of singing began in his high school days at Robert E. Lee High School and followed him throughout his life. Mike was proud member of the Lubbock South Singing Plainsmen group the Singing Barbershop Chorus. While he had quite a range, he was known for his Tenor and Bass singing. His fellow musicians became some of his most dear friends. Mike's talent did not end at singing – he could also write and compose beautiful pieces. In his free time, Mike also enjoyed the outdoors and going on walks or getting out on the water and boating and especially going on road trips with his beloved wife, Frances, and Exploring Texas together. Mike was talented with his hands as well and would often purchase vehicles so that he could take them apart and rebuild them in his own image. You could also find Mike watching his favorite football teams, the Dallas Cowboys and the Houston Texans (Oilers).
Mike was preceded in death by his parents and his beloved daughter, Lauren Michelle Hensley.
Those left to carry on his legacy include, his devoted wife, Frances Gonzales Hensley; daughters, Charlotte Ann Hensley, Samantha Marie Mares, Bianca Nina Contreras, and Selena Frances Contreras; his brother, Guy Sherwood Hensley; as well as his nieces, nephews, and in-laws.
Mike was a devoted "Pepaw" and adored his grandchildren and great-grandchildren; he leaves behind 17 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
The family would like to extend their deepest appreciation to all of Mike's friends and colleagues whose condolences and support are sincerely appreciated.
