He was an amazing friend, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and above all, a loving & devoted husband to his late wife June for 64 years. Charles & June had a love for the ages; something you only hear about in fairytales. They were as one, inseparable. You could not think of one without thinking of the other. That is how God meant love to be.
Charles lived his life emulating one of his favorite Bible verses: “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it; you shall love your neighbor as yourself. On these two commandments depend all the law and the prophets.” –Matthew 22:37-40.
He was a charitable man and lived a life of service for God, his family & friends, and his country. He was a friend to everyone who crossed his path and one of the few “true” southern gentlemen remaining on this earth. He exemplified what a good Christian is and what it meant to walk with the Lord. His faith never wavered and he touched the lives of all that knew him. Charles left this earth with little attachment to material things, but a great magnitude of appreciation for the connection and love he cherished in all of his relationships.
He is survived by his son, Steven E. McMurrey and wife SherryRae of Seabrook, TX; son, Brian E. McMurrey and wife Elisa of Bryan, TX; and brother, David McMurrey of Corpus Christi, TX. He is also survived by a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren; grandchildren: DeWayne McMurrey, Cassie Dominguez, Sara McMurrey, Marisa Daniel, Bryttanie Glaser, Braunwyn Glaser, Kylie Reimert, and Hannah Reimert; great grandchildren: June McMurrey, Zachary Dill, Bryce & Baylie Dominguez, Jaron Galazios, and Clover & Oliver Reimert.
After his sweetheart June passed away, Charles began handing out these little calling cards he made and he would give them to any and everyone who would accept them. We believe he would want us to celebrate his life by continuing his mission of passing along his words of wisdom to the rest of the world.
