Chester grew up in a farming family near White Flat in Motley County. He graduated from Matador High School. Chester served in the US Army Artillery, (120mm Gun), serving overseas at Iwo Jima. He was Honorably discharge in 1963. He returned to Matador and farmed with his father before going to the oil field. He ended his working career at Bailey Boiler Works in Lubbock as a warehouseman. He and his wife Patty were regularly active in their church in Lubbock. One of Chester’s proudest moments was being able to make the Texas South Plains Honor Flight to Washington DC to mark Veteran’s Day on November 11, 2015
Chester was preceded in death by his parents Arthur Virgil Cooper and Vesta Lee (Ray) Cooper of Matador Texas. Wife Patty (Cash) Cooper of Lubbock, Texas. Brothers James Cooper of Milan, NM, and Calvin Cooper of Groton CT. Sisters Vernell Hanna of Abilene, Texas, and Martha Shacklett of Lindal, Texas.
He is survived by sons Tommy Cooper and Tim Cooper of Matador, Texas. Brother Melvin Cooper of Milan, NM and sister Norma Stoneman of Spur, Texas.

Barry Meffert, (nephew) of Blackwell Texas will officiate a grave side service.

A visitation will be held Saturday, October 31, at 1:00PM in the Resthaven Abbey Chapel. Graveside service will follow at 2:00PM at Resthaven Memorial Park.
