Christopher graduated from Overton High School in Overton, Texas, and later attended Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, Texas. He enjoyed football, especially cheering on his beloved Dallas Cowboys, basketball, NASCAR racing, and spending time with family and friends. Christopher worked for Scoggin-Dickey for many years before moving to Oklahoma, where he joined his father, Ron Spears, in the family business.
Christopher was formerly married to Sonja Lyon, and together they were blessed with two children, Zachary Spears and Savannah Spears, who were the pride and joy of his life. He was also a proud grandfather to his beloved grandson, Reks Barton, who brought him immeasurable happiness.
He is survived by his son, Zachary Spears; his daughter, Savannah Spears; his grandson, Reks Barton; his mother, Jan Ash; his brother, Stephen Ash and wife, Renee, of Houston, Texas; his sister, Lisa Pickens and husband, Jim, of Dallas, Texas; along with many cherished aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will miss him greatly.
Christopher was preceded in death by his father, Dr. Weldon Ash. His father, Ron Spears, has also since passed away.
Chris was known for his impeccable sense of humor. He knew just how to make everyone in the room laugh, and he did it so effortlessly. He was also known for his strong work ethic. Everything he did in life, he did with his whole heart, whether it was at work or doing everything he could for his family. He gave his all to every single thing he did.
Chris also had a passion for music, especially music from the '70s. He loved blasting his favorite songs and singing as loud as he could, all while sharing the history of the artists with anyone who would listen. He had a genuine love of learning and researching. If something sparked his interest, he would go out of his way to learn as much as he could about it. He never stopped learning and continued to grow as a person every day of his life.
Christopher will be remembered for his kind heart, sense of humor, easygoing nature, and the genuine way he connected with others. Whether he was watching the Dallas Cowboys on a Sunday afternoon, enjoying a NASCAR race, or simply spending time with those he loved most, he appreciated life’s simple pleasures. Above all, his greatest pride was his family. His love, laughter, and presence will be deeply missed, but the memories he leaves behind will continue to bring comfort and smiles to all who knew him.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to Generations Church or to a charity of your choice in Christopher’s memory.
