Clyde Edward Richardson, 83, of Lubbock, Texas, passed away on August 4, 2026, following a brief illness. Born on May 16, 1943, in Oakwood, Texas, Clyde lived a full and vibrant life marked by his deep love for family, his big personality, and a spirit that drew people to him wherever he went.
Clyde grew up in a large, close-knit family alongside his brothers, and he never tired of sharing stories about what it was like coming up with six of them. Those tales, full of humor and heart, became a hallmark of who he was. In June of 1963, Clyde answered the call to serve his country and entered the United States Army.
On March 14, 1967, Clyde married Betty Klanchnek, the love of his life, and together they welcomed two children a son, Wesley and a daughter Jodie. Clyde was a loving father who took immense pride in his children's achievements and never missed a chance to let others know it.
Often described as the life of the party, Clyde had a way of filling a room with laughter and warmth. He was generous with his time, always willing to offer life advice to the people he cared about. An avid hunter, he also loved nothing more than riding around the backroads of Texas and Oklahoma, taking in the open country he called home.
Later in life, Clyde and Betty found a church home at Genesis Baptist, where his trust in the Lord gave him peace, and his family takes comfort in knowing he rests now in God's loving hands.
Clyde is survived by his beloved wife, Betty Richardson of Lubbock; and his brother, Jonny Richardson of Lubbock his son, Wesley Richardson of Lubbock; his daughter, Jodie Redding and husband Ricky of Odessa. Also survived by 7 grandchildren and 1 great-granddaughter. He was preceded in death by his parents and 5 brothers.
Clyde will be remembered for living his life on his terms, for his unending dedication and love for his wife, children, and grandchildren Also for the genuine care he showed to everyone around him. He will be dearly missed.
