

Clydene was born on September 23rd, 1932, in Jones County, to Clyde Whitaker and Ollie Mae Watson Whitaker. She went on to attend Shallowater High School and graduated with the class of 1949. Clydene furthered her education at Texas Tech University where she obtained her B.A. in 1953.
On May 21st, 1955, Clydene married the love of her life, Mr. Charles Hay, and together they welcomed two children into the world.
After raising two children, her favorite job was delivering coffee to businesses in and around Lubbock for Curry Coffee Service for over 20 years.
Clydene was a proud member of Southcrest Baptist Church, and previously Oakwood Baptist Church. She had a passion for taking care of others, spending her summers trout fishing in the mountains of Red River, New Mexico, and always being up for an adventure.
Clydene was preceded in death by her parents, Clyde and Ollie Whitaker; her beloved husband, Charles Hay; and her sister, Glenna Sealy-Haiduk.
Those left to carry on Clydene’s memory include her children, Art Hay and wife Nancy of Fort Worth, Texas; and Donna Hay and Acencio of Lubbock, Texas; as well as her grandchildren, Charlie Hay and wife Brittany of Celina, Texas; Julie Hay of Fort Worth, Texas; and great-grandchildren, Harper Grace Hay, and Hunter
Hay.
The family would also like to thank the caregivers at Fountain Hills Memory Care, who treated her with such kindness and respect.
A graveside service will be held on July 14th, 2025 at 10 AM at Resthaven Memorial Park.
