Dan Bray, 96, of Lubbock passed away on Sunday, February 12, 2023. He was born on January 18. 1927 in Vernon, Texas to the late Clyde and Lola Bray. Dan married Jo Ann Ballard on July 10, 1948 in Lubbock, Texas. Together they shared 67 years of marriage.
Dan designed and built fine furniture for many years before teaching cabinet and mill at Estacado High School. He gifted each of his children with hand craved doors and fireplace mantels. Dan was a devout Christian, loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He will be missed by all who knew him.
Dan Bray was a WWII veteran and was proud to serve in the United States Navy as a Seabee. As a true patriot, he voted in every Presidential election, even mailing in his ballot in 2022.
Dan and Jo Ann built their own home. Together with their children, the family worked seven years to complete this endeavor. The home was featured in the Lubbock AJ. Dan and Jo Ann loved gardening.
Those left to cherish his memory are daughters, Nancy Merrill, Peggy Hogan and husband, Mickey and Shelley Nix and husband, Mike all of Lubbock, Texas; sons Dan Bray and wife Susie of Brownfield, Texas and Bill Bray and wife Ester of Arlington, Texas; 9 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 10 am, Saturday, February 18, 2023 at Resthaven’s Abbey Chapel with Dr. Bruce Cotton officiating. Interment with military honors will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.
Serving as pallbearers are Bryan Lewis, Don Hogan, John Hogan, Kirk Bray, Kyle Bray, Russel Nix, Zachary Bray and Zane Bray.
