

David Melendrez was born on June 23, 1940, to Jose-Angel and Elena Rojas-Melendrez in Marlin, TX. He married the love of his life, Gloria Milstead on May 9, 1958. They were married for 64 beautiful years. He worked as a fryer operator at Frito Lay for 25 years. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He carried a lot of titles but his favorite one was “Grandpa” He loved telling stories and making people laugh. He will be remembered for always watering his lawn, eating watermelon, and always saying his famous words, “Go fly a kite or jump in the lake” with a smile on his face.
David is survived by his wife, Gloria Milstead-Melendrez; children, Mary (Jeff) Karsten, Melissa (Steve) Gonzales, Johnny (Olga) Melendrez, David Melendrez Jr., and Leonard Melendrez; 14 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; Survived by brothers, Pete (Bertha) Melendrez of Littleton, CO; Jesse (Mary) Melendrez of Brownwood, TX; Raul Melendrez of Houston, TX; Paul Melendrez; Joe Melendrez; and Sammy Melendrez; all of Lubbock, TX. Sisters; Olivia (Antonio) Milstead of Littleton, CO; Mary Ann (Greg) Suarez of Kissimmee, FL; Martha Melendrez of Delano, CA; and Angie Melendrez of Houston, TX.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Father Jose-Angel Melendrez and Mother Elena
Rojas-Melendrez; Son, Michael Melendrez; Brother, Ascension Melendrez; and Sister, Rosemary Valles.
