Dolores June (Bowen) Humphrey

Dolores “June” Bowen Humphrey, 89, of Lubbock was born May 1, 1931 in Haskell to Robert L. and LaMiza (Brown) Brock and went home to be with her Lord on January 13, 2021. She graduated from Haskell High School in 1949. On December 20, 1952 she married Vernon Bowen in Haskell. They were married almost 54 years until his death in November, 2006. In 2015, June met Michael Humphrey in Sunday school and they married on September 14, 2019. Mike has been her special angel who has taken such wonderful care of her during her illness.

After moving to Lubbock in January, 1962, June went to work for Medical Arts Clinic where she retired after 36 years. The doctors she worked for liked to call her “the voice of Medical Arts Clinic” as she worked as the PBX operator along with other positions for her entire career. Her kindness and sincerity were cherished by many co-workers and patients. She was a faithful member of Southcrest Baptist Church and the SAE Sunday school class.

June loved spending time with her family and was affectionately called Mom-Mom by her grandsons and great-grandchildren. She was a loving wife, mother, step-mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, sister, sister-in-law, cousin and friend, and will be greatly missed.

June was predeceased by her parents; husband, Vernon Bowen; daughter, Janna Toney; brothers, Lonnie Brock, Ben Brock, Robert Brock, and Mabry Brock; and sister, Lela Pettit.

She is survived by husband, Michael Humphrey; her daughter, Teresa Stapp (David) of Lubbock; step-daughter, Beth Pruitt (Steve) of Little Elm; step-son, Marty Shue (Melody) of Justin; brother, Jim Brock of Amarillo; grandsons: Grant Burrow (Megan) of Murphy, Joshua Toney (Katrina) of Lubbock, Ryan Burrow of Dallas, and Micah Toney of Lubbock; great-grandchildren: Lilly Toney, Evie Toney, Avery Burrow, Gracy Toney, Bo Toney, Landon, Brooks and Reese Burrow; two brothers-in-law, C.C. “Pete” Bowen of Haskell and Jack Bowen of Copperas Cove; five sisters-in-law: Billie Knight of Marble Falls, June Brock of The Woodlands, Joan Brock of Big Spring, Bobbie Brock of McKinney, and Barbara Brock of Amarillo; numerous special nephews and nieces and a host of friends.

Celebration of Life Service for June will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, January 18, 2021 at Southcrest Baptist Church, Dr. David Wilson will officiate. The family will receive guests one hour prior to service at Southcrest Baptist Church. Livestream will be available on southcrestlive.tv.

Graveside Service will follow at a later date on Thursday, January 28, 2021
