

Don was born in New Deal, TX on Aug 20, 1939. He attended New Deal Elementary School, R.W. Matthews Jr. High School, and Lubbock High School.
Don married Tommie Faye Elder on June 8, 1956 in Lubbock. Don and Tommie moved to Los Angeles, CA in 1956 where Don attended LIFE Bible College. They returned to Lubbock in the summer of 1957 when Tommie was expecting their first child.
Don and Tommie had 4 children: Renee, Karen, Jan, and Michael. They all live in Texas. Renee and Terry Smith, of Amarillo, have 2 sons, Jason and Jeffrey. Karen and Jay Young, of Wolfforth, have 2 daughters, Jessica and Tiffany, and 1 son, Casey. Jan and Chad Davis, of Olney, have 3 daughters, Jasey, Joy and Joanna, and 1 son, Ben Brit. Michael and Tawnya, of Wimberley, have 2 daughters, Lynnsey and Katelyn, and 1 son, Reagan. Don truly adored his family, including his 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Don’s early career was in the printing business. He worked as a printer for Crop & Stock and Craftsman Printers for almost 20 years before he started his own car business. Don Hogan Motors was established and opened in 1976 on Brownfield Highway in Lubbock. In 1983, Don relocated the car lot to Ave Q. Don and Tommie managed the business together from Day 1 until their retirement in 2005.
Don and Tommie deeply loved the Lord, and were faithful servants their entire lives. They were long-time church members and served in many capacities throughout the years. In 1982, Don became Head Usher and a member of the Deacon Board at Abundant Life Church. In 1996, Don became a member of the Elder Board at South Plains Christian Fellowship.
Don’s loving wife, Tommie, passed away Nov 13, 2013. Don joined Tommie when he went to be with the Lord on Dec 11, 2019.
Visitation will be Tuesday, 5-7 PM, at Resthaven Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, at Resthaven’s Abbey Chapel. Memorial donations can be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
