

Don was born April 24, 1934, in Fisk, Texas to Orby Sealy and Katy Thelma (Van Dyke) Sikes.
Don graduated Talpa High School in 1952. While in high school, he participated in football, basketball, and baseball. He especially enjoyed basketball, which he continued playing until he was in his sixties. He graduated Tarleton Junior College in 1954, then transferred to Texas Tech and graduated with a degree in Accounting in 1956. He was hired by Employers Insurance of Texas upon graduation, to begin after completing a two-year obligation to the US Army. He then spent two years on active duty with the US Army in Germany and later was recalled to service for eight months at Fort Polk, Louisiana during the Berlin Crisis. Following his service with the army, Don resumed his career with Employers Insurance, working first as an auditor, then as a salesman, until he retired 35 years later. Even after retirement, Don stayed active with several business endeavors, including Sikes Super Wash car washes.
Don married Beth Creamer on November 23, 1960, in Tucumcari, NM. They are parents of three sons, Stephen (Emily Duckett), Barry, and Wendell. Grandchildren Kaden (Raegan King) Sikes, Savannah (Evan) Stahl, Sealy Sikes, Julia Sikes, and Madeline Sikes.
Don was a member of the Green Lawn Church of Christ for 58 years. He worked in missions,
benevolence, and building management, and served as Treasurer, Deacon, and Elder for over 40 years. He enjoyed attending his sons' and grandchildren's sporting events and activities, as well as keeping up with sports in general. After retirement, Don and Beth traveled to many places all over the world with family and friends. They also enjoyed spending time in New Mexico at their mountain cabin.
Don is survived by his wife, their three sons and one daughter-in-law, five grandchildren and their two spouses. Don is also survived by one brother, Ronnie (Sandi) Sikes, and one sister, Patsy Hudgins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Orby and Thelma Sikes, and sisters Jeannette Brooks, Nita Mathis, and Hiawatha Hallford.
The family will be receiving guests Sunday night, June 5, at Resthaven from 600pm-8:00pm. The funeral service will be at Green Lawn Church of Christ on Monday, June 6, at 10:00am. Service will be live streamed through Resthaven Funeral Home facebook page.
