Donald Joe Cheek

He was born in San Mateo, CA on July 3, 1938, but got to Texas as fast as he could. A 1956 graduate of Dimmitt High School, he married Jaunez Wills on June 9, 1956 in Lubbock. Donald served in the Marine Reserves for seven years. After a short business career, he found his true calling as a high school math and history teacher, a labor of love for over 30 years, 23 of which were at Trinity Christian School in Lubbock. He was a member of Trinity Church in Lubbock.

He is preceded in death by his wife Jaunez and son, Steven Cheek. He is survived by his son, Randy Cheek and wife Kathy of Murphy, TX; daughter, Karen Cheek of Sun City West, AZ; five grandchildren, Kelly Cheek, Brandon Cheek, Stephanie Cheek, Amy Doty and Mary Rosene; six great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

A visitation between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. on Thursday, Nov 11, 2021 and a funeral service at 10 a.m. on Friday, Nov 12, 2021 will be held at Resthaven Funeral Home in Lubbock. A graveside service will follow.

In lieu of flowers, gifts may be given to the Bill and Joyce Herron Endowment at Trinity Christian School.
