Donald W. Hendon, 89, of Lubbock, Texas, passed away on August 23, 2025. Born on May 18, 1936, in Knox City, Donald was a lifelong resident of Texas and a graduate of Friendship High School class of 1953.
He later went on to be an electrician working for Lubbock National Bank.
Don married Doris in January of 1977 and had 7 children between them.
A devout member of Wayne Avenue Baptist Church, Donald deeply valued his faith, which was a guiding force throughout his life. Known for his passion for family and God, he provided unconditional love and support to those around him. Donald also found great joy and solace in woodworking, a hobby that allowed him to express his creativity and craftsmanship.
Donald is survived by his sons, Rodney, Roger, Ricky, and Ronald. He is also survived by his daughters, Roberta, and his sisters, Kay and Loyce. Grandchildren: Steven, Jason, Timothy, Jarrod, Jonathan, Bobbee, and Kaci. Great-grandchildren: Sydney, Reilly, Baily, Amarie, Lily, Ariana, Destiny, Priscilla, Kari Ann, Ashley, Austin, Adrian, Matthew, Alystin, Ciana, and Lennon. Great-Great Grandchildren: Wendy, Liam, Colben, and Everett
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lynn and Morene Hendon; his ex-wife, Dorothy Phillips; his wife, Doris Hendon; his sister, Joyce; brother, Dayle and Jimmy Don; his stepson, Jerry Dee; his grandson, Jerry Wayne; granddaughter, Kari; and great-grandson, Hunter.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, at Wayne Ave Baptist Church, located at 5505 Wayne Ave. Lubbock, Texas, from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M.
