

Services for Doris Poarch Dye, 82, of Lubbock, will be held Tuesday, October 31, 2017, at 1:00 pm at Resthaven’s Abby Chapel, the family will begin receiving friends at 11:30 AM; interment will follow in Resthaven Memorial Park. She passed October 22, 2017, after a lengthy illness. Services are under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home .
Doris was born August 25, 1935, in Ralls, Texas to the former Susie Odell and B. Frank Poarch and married W. Dale Dye on August 25, 1953 in Lubbock. He preceded her in death June 12, 1997. He was the official court reporter for the 137th District Court of Lubbock County for 18 years.
She was a legal secretary from 1953 to 1987, working for various attorneys in Lubbock County. She worked in the U.S. Federal Clerk’s Office from 1987 until her retirement in 1999. She was a deputy clerk as well as served as Courtroom Deputy for the U.S. Magistrate, Judge J.Q. Warnick, Jr.
She was a charter member of the Lubbock Legal Secretaries Association. She was responsible and associated in the organization since 1955. She was presented with an Honorary Lifetime Membership of said organization in 1989 because of her dedicated and outstanding performance in the legal profession as well as Outstanding Person Award in 1998.
She was elected as Executive Secretary for the Texas Shorthand Reporters Association and served as such until she was presented with an Honorary Life Membership in 1985 for her dedication and performance in her husband’s professional organization.
During her employment with the U.S. Federal Clerk’s office, she was presented with several awards for her dedicated and faithful service to the Federal Judiciary.
Survivors include one daughter, Dani Dye Fielding, her beloved grandson, Austin Miles Fielding, both of Pflugerville, TX; one brother, Guy R. Crump and wife Donna of Pecos, New Mexico.
Preceding her in death were 3 brothers and one sister, Thomas Norvel Crump, L.R. Crump and Gay T. Crump of Lubbock and Ledell Ramsey of Pearce, Arizona.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to a charity of your choice or a local animal shelter.
