She was born March 1. 1924 in Hartford, CT to Russell Earl and Beatrice May (Shane) Bentley. She graduated from East Hartford High School and from nursing school as a LVN. Doris was an accomplished pianist and church organist who accompanied singing groups/musicals and taught piano.
Doris is survived by 4 daughters, Carolyn Delorey and husband Bill of Millbury, MA, Christine Koener of LaMarque, TX, Ellen Craig and husband Mark of Kingwood, TX and Bethea Norris of Arlington, TX; 14 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and a beloved cousin, Phyllis Mather of Sun City Center, FL. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Norman C Johnson and a son Norman R Johnson.
Visitation will be Thursday, August 23 from 7 to 9 pm in Resthaven Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held Friday August 24, 2012 at 10 am in Resthaven’s Abbey Chapel with burial to follow in Resthaven Memorial Park.
