Born May 20, 1931, in Fort Worth to Clarence and Beulah Nelon, Doris was a gentle and quiet woman, beautiful inside and out. She was a devoted wife to Ed Mathews for 69 years and a loving mother to Eddy and Carolyn. She enjoyed reading, flowers, birds, and puzzles.
Above all, Doris loved the Lord. Her faith was the foundation of her life. She began each morning reading God’s Word and praying and lived as an example of a Proverbs 31woman—faithful, loving, and devoted.
Doris is survived by her daughter, Carolyn Brown and her husband, Steve; grandchildren Jeremy Brown and his wife, Sarah; Daniel Brown and his wife, Audrey; Trey Mathews and his
wife, Meagan; and Tiffany Camelin and her husband, Ryan; and great-grandchildren Jude, Olivia, Isla, Ava, Annika, Madelyn, Caleb, Emilia, Lucas, Lucy, Trystin, Talyn, and a great-grandchild soon to be born.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ed; son Eddy Mathews; parents Clarence and Beulah Nelon; sister Martha Dukes; and grandson Jordan Nelon Brown.
Doris will be missed for her faith, kindness, and joyful spirit. Her legacy will live on through the generations she cherished.
