

Dr. Robert Wey (born September 14, 1942) died peacefully at 1:54 p.m. on May 20th, 2016, surrounded by his family. Dr. Wey was born and raised in Houston, Texas, where he attended St. Thomas High School and The University of St. Thomas. He married Judith Ann Dodge in Houston, in June of 1965; they met when Judith was his cheerleading partner from a sister high school, St. Agnes Academy, and celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 2015.
Dr. Wey completed his medical school training and residency at Dartmouth and the University of Colorado, and then moved to Lubbock to establish his medical practice. His 40-year practice of interventional cardiology and interventional radiology included being president of Cardiology Associates of Lubbock and Chief of Staff at Methodist Hospital, now Covenant Medical Center. Dr. Wey also was a partner with Cardiologists of Lubbock and, most recently, a cardiologist at Grace Clinic. Many, many residents of Lubbock and the surrounding South Plains were treated by Dr. Wey and blessed with his personal, attentive, and lifesaving care. Dr. Wey breathed his last at Covenant Medical Center, and was attended by many of his colleagues during his last hours.
Dr. Wey is survived by his wife, Judith; sisters Jeanne and Susan Wey and brother Fred Wey; his daughter Emily; his son Aaron, together with wife Jodi and grandchildren Natalie, Ian, and Camille; and his daughter Julie, together with husband Shay and grandchild Posy. Dr. Wey was preceded in death by his son Kurt, in 1999 and his sister Nancy, in 1984.
