

Graveside services for Durwood Lane (Bobo) Searsy, 74, of Idalou will be at 1:00p.m. on Tuesday September 3, 2013 in Resthaven Memorial Park with David Burton, Assistant Minister of Idalou Church of Christ officiating. His family will receive friends on Monday, September 2nd from 3:00 – 5:00p.m. at Resthaven. Mr. Searsy passed away on Saturday, August 31, 2013 in Lubbock.
Durwood was born on October 13, 1938 in Lubbock to Clay Ross Searsy and Ada Irene (Young) Searsy. He graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1957. He married the love of his life, Sandra Jo McCalister on August 22, 1957 in Acuff, TX. He was engaged in farming in the Canyon and Acuff communities until 1986. He then became a property appraiser from which he retired in 2009. In 1999, Durwood and Sandra moved to Idalou.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 56 years, Sandra Searsy; son, Terry Searsy of Abilene; daughter, Carla Bandy and husband, John of Plano; 3 grandchildren, Jessica Searsy of Lubbock Brandon Bandy of Carrollton, and Kaci Bandy of Plano; 3 great-grandchildren; brother, Donald Searsy and wife, Betty of Lubbock, TX; sister-in-laws, Nedra Searsy of Denver City and Maxine Searsy of Kress; brother-in-laws, Billy Garret of Amarillo and R.D. McCallister and wife, LaHonda of Acuff.
Durwood was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Hubert Searsy (2004), Lee Searsy (1998) and Eugene Searsy (2009); sister, Roxie Ann Garrett (2012); and granddaughter, Jami Bandy (1985). In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Lubbock Childrens home 4404 Idalou Rd Lubbock, TX 79403.
