Fara Wynn Burk

Fara Wynn Burk, 84, passed away Monday February 4, 2012 in Lubbock. She was born October 24, 1928 in Dodson, Texas to Henry and Vada Wynn. She graduated from Dodson High School. Fara married Newell Burk July 7, 1945 and they lived in Floydada for 29 years. She was a member of the 1950’s Club in Floydada.

Fara worked with her husband in his CPA firm, was a dorm supervisor at the Katie Rogers Dorm at LCU and was a substitute teacher with LISD. She was a Board Member of the Della Plains Day Care and had Burk Manor in her home, a private assisted living center. She was a member of the Church of Christ.

Fara was a loving caring mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Survivors include, 2 daughters, Nanette Soto (Leslie) and Janet Bruns; son Mike Burk (Karen); foster children, Barry and Craig Quinn; grandchildren, Jimmy Lee, Michael Lee, Gina Lindsey, Shane Burk, Matt Soto; 8 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and brother Phill Wynn.

The family wishes to thank Manna Acres, Huspice of Lubbock and the staff at UMC for all of their loving care.

Visitation will be Wednesday, Feb. 6, at Resthaven Funeral Home from 5:00 to 7:00 pm. Funeral services will be Thursday at South Plains Church of Christ at 2:00 pm with burial to follow in Resthaven Memorial Park.
