Forbia Alice Bates Allison, 97, died March 30, 2012. Services will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday April 5th, 2012 at Resthaven’s Mausoleum Chapel with the Rev. Steve McMeans officiating. Burial to follow at Resthaven Memorial Park. There will be a come and go visitation for Forbia on Wednesday.
She was born May 19, 1914 to a Merchants family in Indian Territory Sasakwa, Ok. The state of Oklahoma was admitted to statehood only 7 years before her birth. Her grandfather George being a Baptist Minister Indian Agent, influenced her deep religious faith. Living in hard depression times, the family moved to Oklahoma City and shortly there after her father died. Forbia’s mother raised she and her brother Hoil. This happening caused her to become very budget conscious. Forbia graduated from Central High School in Oklahoma City. Short time later, meeting the love of her life, O.C. Allison. They were married September 3rd,1935. Her family started shortly with 3 rowdy boys. Gary, Daryl and Roger whom were always forgiven for their many faults. Forbia and O.C. moved to Lubbock in 1949 to further his career. In the early seventies they moved back to Oklahoma City for business and to help take care of her mother who passed at age 94. She moved back to Lubbock in 1994 to be with children and grandchildren. O.C. and Forbia joined the Indiana Baptist Church having great fellowship, particularly after O.C. died in 2000. She looked forward to her weekly domino and luncheon meetings at the church, Young at Heart Club. Forbia continued to survive beautifully in her home with minimal care until January 2011, age 96, after a fall she was in an assisted living facility for the last 14 months.
Forbia is survived by her three son’s; Gary, Daryl and Roger, four Allison gradchildren; Kim, Trent, Shannon and Clay, four Great Allison grandchildren; Tori, Braden, Kayla and Channing Boyd. She will be greatly missed and her loving memories will remain forever.
The family suggest memorials to the American Heart Association.
