Fred was born on May 16, 1923 in Nacogdoches, Texas to Allen and Annie Montis. He served in the Us Amy during WWII. He was a rancher and worked in the local oil fields, retiring from El Paso Natural Gas. He previously lived in Shallowater, most recently residing at Lakeside Nursing and Rehab in Lubbock. He was also a member of the Shallowater Masonic Lodge 1279 A.F. & A.M. and also, he was a life time member of the 32nd Degree Scothishrite Lodge here in Lubbock.
He also was a member of the First Baptist Church of Shallowater Texas.
He was survived by four children, Fred Montis of Lubbock; Bill Montis and his wife Sharon of Corpus Christi; DWayne Montis and his wife Christine of Hawley, Minn; and Emmett Montis of Huntington Beach, Ca. Five grandchildren, Freddie and his wife Cristy; Kristi and her husband Kirby; James, Justin and Ryan; two great grandchildren Cale and Kaitlin; two brothers, Johnny Montis and Emmett Montis.
He was proceeded in death by his parents and 3 siblings.
