I do not know if anyone out there will still see updates. It has been 13 weeks, one day, 16 hours, and 20 minutes, since my life changed with the loss of my sweet son, Garrett. I search for everything and anything I can find or hold that is close to Garrett. There is not just a whole in my heart and soul. There is barely nothing left of me, I feel. There is no worse pain on this earth. My counselor says I am still in shock. I guess, because I cannot wrap my brain around this, I am. I function, as I need to, but it is so difficult. If anyone out there sees this and has pictures or videos of my sweet son or even stories that you can share withe me, PLEASE, share those photos, videos, and stories here or on my Facebook page. You can also if you have pictures that I would not have. You have stories of Garrett that I do not know. Memories of Garrett are my future. You can help me. Thank you, in advance. I have lots of memories  of my Grandson. The one I love the most is a very recent one . As he got older he loved to tease me because I never talked or pronounce words right . I couldn’t say his tattoo or his dogs name right. He then got another dog and named it Carbon  and I thank him for picking a name I could say . He laughed and said Nana I am happy I could help you out . Love you Garrett.

My sister Elizabeth Reyna who is a 2012 graduate of Frenship High School. Knew Megan bednarz from band. I am so sorry for the bednarz family. Garrett will be deeply missed everyday every hour and every minute of the day. He will be remembered through the walls of Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Lubbock Texas. Sending prayers to the parents of Garrett and his sister Megan bednarz. 

I went to high school with Garrett, and had the pleasure of playing French horn with him. As many others have said here, Garrett never failed to make me laugh with his witty jokes and snarky remarks. I spent many long hours sitting next to Garrett in practice, or standing next to him in set. But being with Garrett always made the time pass quicker. One time, on the bus to a competition, Garrett started drawing funny pictures on a sheet of music, and we passed it back and forth until you couldn’t see the music notes anymore, just jokes and doodles we’d scrawled across it. I wish I had that paper now. I miss Garrett’s comforting presence, how he would remind me that “nervous is a useless emotion.” Garrett was always there to make me laugh with a joke, give me a big hug, or spray water in my face (when I definitely deserved it). He will be dearly missed by many people. 

We are praying and thinking  of the family during this time.

I didn’t know Garrett personally but knew his dad and his dad’s brother Chris who passed in 2008 was my best friend in high school.  I love the Bednarz family and want to send heartfelt condolences from the Motsenbocker family.  Craig, you and your family are in our prayers.  God bless.

Garrett had a very special connection with Angela; as a baby he used to tenderly hug her and if anybody dare to try to hold him, he used to hide on his mom’s chest and arms. He smiled to others only if she was holding him. He was also very sensitive to loud noises, it was common to see him  covering his ears with his little hands  even with music.  
As soon as we met, the Bednarz  family and the Diaz bonded together so well that we used to see each other almost everyday.  Garrett and Carlos in one team and Meagan and Gabi in the other team. Meagan and Carlos were the opposite poles and Garrett and Gabi were the ground that neutralized conflicts., in that way there was always a very good energy flow. 
We treasure every single memory, from the long hours playing all together in the swimming pool, to every special celebration like Christmas, Halloween,  Thanksgiving, birthdays, First Communions....  When they moved to Texas, they left a big empty space that was never filled out; in many occasions  my husband and I talked about visiting them, but we postponed it too much...

Sending prayers of comfort to the Bednarz family! 

Garrett was one of my freshmen when I taught at Frenship a few years ago. He was in my Geography class. I am shocked and so saddened to hear of his passing. What I will always remember is a sweet young boy who was very bright, witty, kind and just a joy to have in the classroom. He was the kind of student who made a teacher's day better and brighter.  I have faith and confidence that he is in Heaven and that brings some comfort. It's still a life cut much too short and I'm so heartbroken for his family and friends.  I'm praying for comfort and peace for his family. He was a wonderful student, friend to others and he will be missed. 

My heart broke hearing the news about Garrett. I am so sorry for your loss. I remember vividly Garrett in my fourth grade classroom at Crestview. He and several of the other boys struck up instant friendships. I can tell from some of the other posts that those friendships lasted. That was such a great class, and Garrett was a joy to teach. Angela, you were always such a wonderful parent to work with, and I remember our visits very well. You and your whole family will be in my continuous prayers. 

Craig, no words can express how sorry we are to hear about your loss.  Please know that our thoughts and prayers are with you and all of your family.  May loving memories bring you peace, comfort and strength; and may the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Garrett was truly an amazing person. My brother Gavin and him were best friends since childhood, so my family had the joy of getting to know him and being apart of his life. From making silly YouTube videos, to card tricks, to band shenanigans, Gavin and Garrett were side by side! Being the curious little sister I was, I wanted to join in, and Garrett always made me feel apart of the group. He was such a kind and calming presence that I will never forget. We love you Garrett.

I’ve shared an office with Garrett for the last couple of years. His laugh, big smile, array of pets, and supply of random facts are what first come to mind when I think of him. Garrett made me and all our coworkers laugh daily. Recently, we were at Stellas for a work-related lunch and when the table was silent Garrett asked, “would you rather fight a horse-sized duck, or 100 duck-sized horses?” That was Garrett in a nutshell. He never hesitated to speak his mind if it meant making someone laugh. He called himself our “office garbage disposal” because everyone always offered him any leftover food they had, and never once did he disappoint them. He was everyone’s go-to helper for any random task, from carrying heavy boxes to fixing our printers. Any time Garrett got a haircut, usually only for a special occasion, every person in the office would notice and compliment him, and he got a kick out of it. In addition to his random silly stories, he often talked about his mom, dad, brother, sister, Chronos & Carbon, pet snake, bird, and his motorcycle. Garrett was kind, funny, respectful, caring, and curious. He would leave little sticky notes with funny random phrases and drawings all over his desk, and you could always count on him to write something funny in your birthday card. When I decorated our office for Christmas last year, he made a little paper origami bird and stuck it on the tree as an ornament and said, “this is my contribution.” I’ll miss every quirky little thing Garrett filled our days with. He exuded joy, positivity, and genuine kindness. He truly was a special person. His family, friends, and loved ones will forever be in my thoughts and prayers. 

Garrett has been one of my son’s best friends since elementary days and in turn became a family friend. Garrett even called my husband fondly “uncle” as he got older. It’s been a joy to see our sons grow up together and to see who would wind up being the tallest (Garrett won!). Garrett was truly loyal, kind, gentle, and fun, the best kind of friend you would want for your son!  I was so happy to see Garrett when he came to church about a month ago, I went in for a hug but I was too short to hug his neck. Garrett said I’m grown up now you’re supposed to hug me around the waist (where I could reach).  He was so jovial and put me at ease after my awkward hug!  Our family feels blessed to know Garrett as we did. Our hearts are breaking for Angela, Megan, Dillon and family and we will be praying for you.  We love Garrett and will miss him terribly.  We hold tight to the promise we will see him again.

My grandson was his room mate. I had the blessing of getting to know Garrett he was funny polite and so lovable. I considered him a grandson. I will miss him.

I’m going to miss Garrett’s smile. It was the same from the time he was in elementary to the last time I saw him at Gavin’s wedding. You could see what a kind person he was in his eyes when he smiled. I think he’s a great guy and he we be deeply missed. We love you GB!

I’ll always have good memories of Garrett, between High school and band, he was always a truly happy person and was friends with everyone. Garrett and my self may not have been close through school, but he will be greatly missed. My thoughts and prayers are with everyone.

I never met Garrett, but having my own 21 year old son die in an automobile accident in July, I want to send my condolences.  It is truly the hardest thing to have to live through.  Whatever you think or feel or do right now is the right thing.  You need to grieve and heal you own personal way.  You are in my prayers, may God help you heal.  

I never had the pleasure of meeting Garrett but based on the memories/ stories I read here he had a great sense of humor much like his mother. As an old friend and college room mate of his mother, Angela, I have no doubt he graced this earth with much laughter during his life. My condolences to the family and to his many friends and co workers. You will be in my  prayers.  

I remember when I met Garrett at Crestview. I will always remember the day when I met him at the playground.  This little boy with this big warm smile.  We stood there and held a conversation over Legos.   Ryan and Garrett became friends over the years and slowly came the afternoon carpools which were always interesting. To listen to the stories of the dramatic events of the day that would make me laugh because it was something so simple of who liked who or how his sister was over reacting.  The endless band trips and football games. Honestly, I think this is why Ryan joined band.   I will never forget his warm smile and that hair.  The stories of the family dog, PIA. Makes me laugh when I asked him how the dog came about that name.  I giggle to this day. The one day when him and Megan messaged me asking if my dog Bobby was home because they saw a dog like her. They always showed compassion and concern for animals and each other.  A sister and brotherly bound like no other. Even though Ryan lost touch with them, I still follow Megan on Instagram. To see how much they have grown. I saw Garrett at the light of 66th and Frankford a couple weeks back. He was turning and all I could think of was he needs a big vehicle since he is so tall.

Although I only worked with Garrett for a few months, I truly enjoyed our time together and considered him a friend more so than a co-worker. From the moment he stepped into our office he was always so happy & made so many jokes that always made me laugh. I will miss our daily conversations and the moments we would share stories. It was a pleasure being able to work with such an incredible human being and having him a part of the team. My heart is with his family & dog, Carbon,  during this difficult time.

My conversations with "Bird Man" have been some of the funniest and most animated talks I can remember having.....with anyone.  In fact, I don't ever remember calling him Garrett.....it was always Bird Man because he was always talking about owning a bird, or a sugar glider or some other exotic pet.  

What a fun and funny guy....so full of spark and laughter.  Bird Man had an amazing sense of humor and he just radiated joy.  I am blessed to have crossed paths with such a remarkable young man...and truly saddened by his death.

So very sorry for your loss.  Garrett will be missed by many whose lives he touched.  I pray for healing and peace for his family and friends.  

Garrett was my coworker, and I always looked forward to him coming into work. He always had the brightest smile and the goofiest stories to tell. Garrett LOVED to talk about his family (his sister who loved on him when he did stupid stuff, his lunch dates with his mom at Thai pepper, his phone calls with his dad about cars and motorcycles). Garrett loved his pets and would research for ever the best ways to take care of them. Garrett was such a loving and gentle guy- full of so much laughter. He always knew the right thing to do in a hard situation, and listened better than almost anyone I know. I have so many great memories from him “borrowing” a curb to do skateboard trips, to him saying, “bye buddy, I hope you find your dad!” every day at 5pm when we left work. He unintentionally taught me so much about finding joy where you are, and I’m really grateful to have known him.  

He was in the Frenship band with me, and while we weren’t close, he was always nice and made people laugh. A good guy to have around.

We are so very sorry for your loss in this terrible tragedy.  Thoughts and prayers to everyone.

Superficially, anyone can say that Tifton is a crappy town to live in, but it was friends like Garrett that made Tifton, Georgia a wonderful place to grow up in, and Garrett was my closest childhood friend. Veggie Tales, Rescue Hero’s,  Rachet and Clank, Taekwando, and late-night slumber parties eating Angela’s chocolate chip cookies—there are many shared experiences I hold near and dear in my heart when I think of my good friend. But most importantly, I will remember Garrett as someone that was always guided by kindness and found joy in sharing a laugh with others.
