Born on November 27, 1949 in Wichita Falls, Gary was the beloved son of Hortensia and James Heath. Throughout life he was known for his gentle, loyal, kind, and caring spirit.
Gary worked as a food technology expert for more than 45 years, acting as head of quality control and R&D, and took great pride in developing consistently excellent recipes, ensuring safe practices, and teaching others the craft. He was also a licensed professional counselor and taught at Midland College for several years. An incredibly smart man both emotionally and intellectually, he would surprise you with interesting facts he learned many years ago, planned complex horticultural experiments, and knew how to be a supportive father and husband. Outside of work he enjoyed listening to music, photography, gardening, camping, and detective shows and found immense joy in dogs of all ages. He also adored playing with his granddaughters.
Gary is survived by his wife, Anne; 3 daughters, Amy, Erin, and Kristen; and 5 grandkids, Cora, Natalie, Summer, Sierra, and Ava. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Hortensia.
A reception will be held on October 23, 2026, 6 - 8 pm at Lakeridge Chapel (6025 82nd St, Lubbock, TX 79424).
