George Richard (Dick) Johnson, 89, of Lubbock passed away on January 26, 2021.
Dick was born on October 8, 1931 in Tahoka, Texas, to Fagin and Alta Johnson. In 1951, Dick married Daphine Hall of Wilson, Texas. He served in the United States Army from 1951-1954 and held a long career in steel fabrication. His hobbies included classic cars, gardening, and being with his family.
Dick was preceded in death by his parents and daughter Brenda Cox. Dick is survived by his loving wife, Daphine Johnson, sister Margaret King and husband, Hank, of North Carolina; son, Ronnie Johnson and wife Donita of Ropes, Texas; daughter Marlene Smith and husband James of Lubbock; five grandchildren (Quincy Turner and wife Jennifer of Lubbock; Stacey Steward and husband Bryan of Lubbock; Marcus Johnson of Lubbock; Misty Johnson of Ropes; Eric Martin of Lubbock); and eleven great grandchildren. Dick will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 3, 2021, from 5:00PM-7:00PM at Resthaven Funeral Home Abbey Chapel. Services will be Thursday, February 4, 2021, at Lonestar Cowboy Church, 1309 E Farm to Market Rd 1585, Lubbock, TX 79423, at 2:00PM. Graveside service will be Friday, February 5, 2021, at 10:00AM at Resthaven Memorial Park.
