

Geraldine West Phillips, embarked on her heavenly home going on Thursday, December 25, 2014, at the age of 88. She was born on August 25, 1926 near Plainview, Hale County, Texas, to parents Hiram Greer West and Bertha Ellen Greenfield West. Married to Alton Burl Phillips, on August 30, 1946, Alton and Geraldine had four children, Don, Joann, David and Mary Lou. Geraldine is survived by three children, Don Phillips (and wife Diann) of Bandera, Texas, Joann Phillips Robertson (and husband John H. Robertson) of Hurst, Texas and Mary Lou Phillips Lively of Liberty Hill, Texas, nephew Larry West (and wife Peggy), and sister-in-law Syble West of West Monroe, Louisiana, grandchildren, Nicole Phillips Rasor (and husband Jason), Jessica Phillips Hendrick (and husband Douglas), Dinias Phillips (and wife Wendy), Ryan Studdard (and wife Lacy), Nathan Studdard (and wife LaDawn), Emily Lively, Abbey Lively Miller (and husband Jeremy) and Zachary Lively (and wife Rachel), step-grandchildren, Steve Gale Robertson, and John W. Robertson and 15 great-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents Greer and Bertha West, brother Ernest West, husband Alton of over 50 years, son David Wesley Phillips, and grandson Michael Wesley Field.
Opening in 1963, and spanning a period of over 45 years, Alton and Geraldine served parents of over 450 young children in their home-based child care center. Alton and Geraldine loved and adored their unofficially adopted children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Geraldine was known for her “pillow ministry”, hand-crafting cotton-stuffed heart-shaped pillows that were specially made for their recipients for weddings, baby showers, encouragement and home décor. Also known for her banana bread, hot fresh-baked bread and cinnamon rolls, Geraldine thoroughly enjoyed blessing others with her baked goods.
Visitation is scheduled for Sunday, December 28, 2014 from 6 to 8pm at Resthaven Funeral Home. Services will be held at Greenlawn Church of Christ on Monday, December 29th at 2:00 pm, with burial following at Resthaven Memorial Park.
The family would like to thank Becky McGuire, David Chowning, and the many, many friends for years of love and care for Geraldine. The family would also like to thank the doctors, clinical and support staff at Covenant Specialty Hospital for their attentive and loving care of Geraldine.
