G.K. Reading

Gordon Keith (G.K.) Reading was born May 3, 1934 in Claude, Texas to Gordon Keith Reading Sr. and Faye Clifford Jefferies Reading. He graduated from Pampa High School in 1952 and attended the Texas Tech Civil Engineering program where he met the love of his life, Frieda Joyce Roper. G.K. and Frieda married on August 4, 1956.

G.K. served in the United States Army for two years before being honorably discharged and reigniting his passion for engineering. He was a dedicated Texas Department of Transportation engineer for 32 years before retiring. G.K. greatly enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, dogs, and any excuse to be outside.

G.K. went to be with the Lord Thursday, July 17, 2025. G.K. was preceded in death by his parents, sister: Nellie Joe, son: Clifford Dale Reading, and great-grandson: Devin Antonio Danford.

Those left to honor and cherish his memory are his wife: Frieda Reading; 2 children: JoAnna Crawford (Jay) and Steven Reading; 5 grandchildren: Blanca, Cristal, Joshua, Mia, and Jayson; and 10 great-grandchildren: Zalanda, Kayven, Emma, Taylor, Mariah, Tinley, Talen, Trey, Jacob, and Isaiah.
