Gladys Richards

Gladys Mae Richards, 75, of Lubbock was born on August 11, 1936 in New Deal to Jack and Mae Brogden. She passed into the arms of our Lord Jesus on March 16, 2012. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, March 21, 2012 at Resthaven’s Abbey Chapel with Pastor Bobby Dagnel of First Baptist Church Lubbock officiating. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park in

Lubbock.

Gladys graduated from New Deal High School in 1954. She married E.W. “Fritz” Richards on June 5, 1954, in Lubbock and had been married for 57 years. In 1968 Gladys and her family moved to Olton, TX where she worked alongside Fritz for 30 years as Office Manager at Olton Grain Co-op, Inc. Prior to moving “back to Texas” Gladys and Fritz also lived in Kansas and California during which time they had 3 children Jack, Jeannie and Robert.

Gladys and Fritz later moved to Lubbock to retire. She loved to travel, cook, watch sports and invest in her most treasured joy, her family. Gladys was a wonderful wife and mother. She had a true servant’s heart always placing others and her family’s needs above her own. Gladys simply wanted the best for her family and spent a lifetime giving all her love to her family.

Gladys was preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Mae Brogden and a brother Tom Brogden.

Surviving her are her husband Fritz of Lubbock; sister, Joyce Brogden of Lubbock; son, Jack and his wife Susan of Lubbock; daughter, Jeannie Watson and her husband Ken of Stephenville; son, Robert and his wife Kristie of Idalou; six (6) grandchildren, Morgan Rigsbee, Kali Richards, Jackson Richards, Kelsey Richards, Kaeley Richards and Riley Richards; 2 great grandchildren, Jadyn and Andrew Rigsbee.

A visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, March 20, 2012 at Resthaven Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be donated to the Richards Family Texas Tech Student-Athlete Scholarship Fund at Peoples Bank, 5820 82nd Street, Lubbock, TX C/O Todd McKee.
