Gloria Whipple Bassett went to meet her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on August 13, 2026, in Lubbock, TX. Gloria was born on March 4, 1955, in the Bronx, New York, to her parents, B. W. and Gloria Whipple. When Gloria was very young her family moved from New York to Fayetteville, North Carolina, where she was raised and graduated from Terry Sanford Senior High School. After High School Gloria became a Physical Therapist Assistant and shortly thereafter moved to Houston, TX. After working a few years in Houston at Spring Branch Hospital, Gloria decided to complete her degree to become a Physical Therapist. In 1985 Gloria completed her degree from UTMB in Galveston and worked as a Physical Therapist in Houston and later in Lakewood, Co for many years. However, on March 20, 1997, Gloria’s son Matthew was born and she was excited and happy to set her Physical Therapy career aside to raise her son. While in Houston, Gloria met her beloved husband Ron Bassett and they were married on January 21, 1995.
Gloria was a strong believer in Jesus Christ and she shared the gospel of salvation (John 3:16) with anyone who would listen in a bold, friendly and loving way. Gloria wanted God to use her to bring people to heaven through the gospel. Her life verse was Galatians 2:20 - I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me. We are sad she has left us, but we know with confidence that she is in heaven with our Lord Jesus Christ.
Gloria is preceded in death by Her parents B. W. and Gloria Whipple, as well as her sister in laws Linda Whipple, Jennifer Bassett, Carolyn Hazard and her brother in laws Jodie Bassett and Don Hazard. She is survived by Ron, her husband of 31 years, as well as her son Matthew and his wife Brielle. Gloria is also survived by her brothers John Whipple and Bill Whipple and by her very good friend Mary Jane Stubbs as well as many nieces, nephews and friends. Gloria was a loving wonderful wife, mother, encourager and friend.

A funeral service will be held on August 28, 2026, 1p.m. at Lakeridge Chapel in Lubbock with a burial service to follow at Resthaven Cemetery in Lubbock.
