Gravesides services for Gloria C. Wood, 84, of Lubbock, will be held at 10:30 am on Tuesday, May 31, 2011 in the Smyer Cemetery. Burial is under the direction of Resthaven of Lubbock. Mrs. Wood passed away on Tuesday, May 24th.
Gloria was born on May 29, 1926 in Lubbock County to Stephen and Mittie Roberts Collier. She graduated from Smyer High School and attended TTU and SPC. She married Howard Wood in 1946 and they farmed at Smyer for many years. Following Howard’s death in 1986, Gloria worked as an admitting clerk at Methodist Hospital in Lubbock. She was lifelong Baptist.
Survivors include her son, Bob Wood and wife Brenda of Lubbock; four grandchildren, Jennifer Wall, Jessica Wood, Daniel Wood, and Bryan Wood; and nine great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, from 3-5 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to South Plains Food Bank or the donor’s favorite charity. Condolences may be offered at www.resthavenfuneralhome.com
