Gloria Rios Gonzales, age 80, beloved wife and mother to her husband of 61 years and 3 sons, of Lubbock, Texas, passed away at home after her 6 year battle of Breast Cancer on September 10, 2025, leaving a void her family cannot fill.
She was born in Edinburg, Texas in 1945 to Martin and Juanita Rios. Gloria studied nursing as a career where she served many years as a school nurse and in church ministry.
Gloria was a devoted mother to her first born, Tommy L. Gonzales, second son, Timothy L. Gonzales, and third son, Adrian Gonzales, who were her pride and joy. She always said their birth changed her life for the better, and they felt that in the love and support she always provided. Gloria took special joy in being surrounded by her 5 grandchildren (Kristian Lauren, Nathan Thomas, Matthew David, Micheal Timothy, Courtney Michelle) and adored her two great grandchildren (Scarlet Monroe, Liam Andres). She had fond memories of family gatherings filled with laughter, lots of love, and most importantly worship. If you would ask Gloria what has been the most important role in her life, she would say being a mother and grandmother because when her world was falling apart she kept standing for her sons and grandchildren. Her greatest pride was being a mom and grandma.
Gloria was preceded in death by her parents, Martin and Juanita Rios, two older brothers, Gilbert and Leonard Rios, and is survived by husband, Rev. Eutimio S. Gonzales Jr., three sons, 2 daughter-in-laws (Cynthia and Denise) 5 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, sister Della Rios Taylor (husband Bobby) and younger brother Robert Rios (wife Yvonne) who will never forget the love she brought to their lives.
To honor the life of Gloria, a viewing will take place on September 18th, 2025 at Resthaven Funeral Home (Lubbock, TX), from 4-8 p.m. (with a short remembrance of life at 7 p.m.)and Official Service will be on Friday, September 19th, at Oakwood Fellowship Methodist Church (Lubbock, TX) at 1 p.m. followed by her final resting place at Resthaven Cemetery.
