Gloria Jean (Lammert) Turner was born on April 15, 1939 in Clifton, Texas. In 1942, her parents Herbert and Mamie Lammert and older brother Herbert Jr. moved to a farm near Old Glory, Texas. She graduated as Valedictorian from Old Glory High School and then graduated from Texas Lutheran University with a degree in Education.
She met her husband, Bert Turner, at TLU and they were married on December 29, 1962 at St. Paul Lutheran in Sagerton, Texas. They moved to Lubbock in 1964. Their son Jay was born in Lubbock on January 26, 1965. Gloria taught school for 27 years and then served as Administrative Secretary for Shepherd King Lutheran Church for 17 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents and is survived by her husband, Bert, son Jay and his wife Julie and beloved grandchildren Jarett and Savannah Turner of Union, Kentucky. Also surviving are brothers Herbert Jr. (Barbara), Danny (Helen) and six nieces and nephews and many friends.
