Gwendolyn Padgett

A visitation for Gwendolyn will be held Sunday February 16th from 4 PM - 6 PM at Resthaven Funeral Home, with a funeral service to be held Monday February 17th at 10 AM at the Resthaven Abbey Chapel. Burial for Gwendolyn will occur Tuesday February 18th at 10 AM at Resthaven Memorial Park.

Gwen departed this earthly life on her birthday at the age of 98 for her heavenly home.

Gwen was born on February 12th, 1927 to Luther Jones and Jessie Lillian Brown Jones in Brownfield, Texas. She attended Brownfield schools and graduated from Brownfield High School.

She married W. H. Padgett Jr. on November 10th, 1944 in Brownfield, Texas. After living in Riverside California for a short while, they moved to Lubbock, Texas in November of 1945 where they made their home. She was a member of Parkway Drive Church of Christ, having been a charter member of the Northside Church of Christ. She loved to cook and always made sure to have plenty to eat for company.

Gwen was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, half-brother Dennis Jones, half-sister Patricia Jones, a baby sister, her youngest daughter Anita Padgett Greenlee, and a great grandson D'nomyar "Denom" Russell and great granddaughter Elianna Grace McCurtain.

Those left to cherish her memories include, her daughter Donna Wolfe of Lubbock, son Luther Norman Padgett and wife Belinda of Lubbock, and daughter Vicki Long and husband Larry of Texarkana, Texas. Her legacy extends to 11 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, 12 great-great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, close friends, and neighbors.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be make to the Lubbock Children's Home or any charity of your choice in Gwen's memory.
