Helen Pieratt Price
December 7, 1917 – January 6, 2019
Our sweet mother, Helen G. Price, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 6, 2019. She passed away at Trinity Mission Health and Rehab in Italy, Texas, at the age of 101. Helen was born in Lorenzo, Texas on December 7, 1917. She was a graduate of Crosbyton High School and received a BBA degree from Texas Tech University in 1940. Helen married Howard A. Price in Crosbyton on November 20, 1940, and they moved to Lubbock in 1946 to begin a family. Helen was a devoted mother to her daughters, Judy and Jan. Helen was a faithful member and elder of Westminster Presbyterian Church, and she enjoyed membership in the Pierian Sorosis Study Club, Trowel and Error Garden Club, Lubbock Knife and Fork Club and the Lubbock Women’s Club. Howard and Helen were members of the Texas Tech Ex Students Association and were loyal Raider football fans. Helen enjoyed hosting family and friends at their house at Possum Kingdom Lake. Several years after Howard’s death, Helen moved to Carillon Retirement Home. While there she enjoyed the fellowship of friends, playing bridge, and attending Red Raider basketball games. In 2013 Helen moved to Trinity Mission Health and Rehab in Italy, Texas. Her family will always be grateful to all of her caretakers for their loving care including Bristol Hospice. Helen will be remembered as one never to complain or say an unkind word. She will be remembered for her beautiful smile, the twinkle in her eye, and the grace by which she lived her life. Helen was preceded in death by her husband on January 29, 1989, after 44 years of marriage. Also preceding her were her parents, Emzy and Merle Pieratt, brother Foy Pieratt and sister Maurine Baker. Survivors include daughter Judy Buffington and husband Jack of Winchester, TN; daughter Jan Shepard and husband Glenn of Italy, TX; grandson Tanner Shepard and wife Angie of Austin, TX; granddaughters Stephanie Duncan and husband Phil of Manchester, TN; Julie Bamsey and husband Tony of Rocklin, CA; Brooke Boscamp and husband Bryan of Prosper, TX; great-great grandchildren Trent, Jackson, Jake, Isaac, Rand, Vivienne, Ava, Ella and Jack.
