He then served in the United States Air Force stationed in Iceland during the Korean War conflict. He met the love of his life, Sandra, at Oakwood Baptist Church in Lubbock, where they were married in 1963. He and Sandra moved to Plainview, Texas where they raised their family, and where Hylton worked in the farming/agriculture sector holding various roles of responsibility starting with Plainview Wheat Growers and retiring in 1999 at Olton Grain Co-op. Following his retirement, he and Sandra moved to Star Harbor, Texas where they enjoyed boating and being outdoors golfing. Following Sandra’s death, Hylton moved to Houston, Texas where he continued to enjoy life, watching sports—particularly tennis and his beloved Texas Rangers and Houston Astros, going on cruises and other outings with friends at his living facility. Hylton was Baptist by faith and attended Tallowood Baptist Church in Houston where he enjoyed going to Sunday School. Hylton was strong in his faith and loved his family, known as “Grandpa” to his grandchildren. He was a life-long Red Raider fan, and a kind, tenderhearted man who will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
