

Jack Horace Miller was welcomed by his Lord and Savior into his heavenly home on June 12, 2026 at the age of 88, in Lubbock, Texas. Jack was born November 11, 1937 to Charlie Franklin and Effa Jane Venable Miller near Durant, Oklahoma. Jack married Darlene Gregg on May 29, 1959 in Coahoma, Texas. Jack was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years on February 14, 2025; his parents; four brothers, Audie, Joe, Johnnie and Charlie; and three sisters, Lena, Mae and Oleta.
Jack proudly served in the United States Air Force for twenty years including service in Thailand during the Vietnam War and service in South Korea where he participated in many evangelical campaigns with the Church of Christ while assigned there. He began his military career as an airplane mechanic advancing to Egress Systems Technician, and achieving Master Instructor Rating prior to his retirement. During his service he received the Air and Space Commendation Medal, Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Air Force Longevity Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal and Vietnam Service Medal.
While in the service and then while serving as the Bus Minister at Greenlawn Church of Christ in Lubbock, Jack pursued his education and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Lubbock Christian College in 1980. He also attended Sunset School of Preaching in Lubbock. Jack served as Education Minister at the Andrews Church of Christ in Andrews, Texas before returning to his background and skills received while in the Air Force, working for Lockheed Martin and Northrup Grumman in Lubbock, Texas and Enid, Oklahoma before his retirement.
Jack served as an elder in the Lord’s church with the Southside Church of Christ in Lubbock, Texas and with the Garriott Road Church of Christ in Enid, Oklahoma.
Jack is survived by his son, Eric (Annette) Miller and his daughter, Cindy (Curtis) Price; six grandchildren, Cody (Bree), Chelsey (Stephen), Gregg (Christine), Zanna (Derek), Eli (Devin), Zachary (Jessica); twelve great grandchildren: Wyatt, Carter, Hunter, Ryan, Ariah, Grant, Henry Jack, Evan, Travis, Charlotte, Callie and Colton as well as numerous nephews and nieces and their children.
Family Visitation will be Wednesday, June 17 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Lake Ridge Chapel in Lubbock with graveside services at 11 a.m. June 18, 2026 at Trinity Memorial Gardens south of Big Spring, Texas (6900 South Hwy 87).
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Sunset International Bible Institute (SIBI) Solar Program at Sunset Solar Mission, 3723 34th, Lubbock, Texas 79410 or to the mission efforts of Wolfforth Church of Christ, P O Box 280, Wolfforth, Texas 79382.
