

Jack Forrester Strong Jr. passed away peacefully in his sleep on January 16, 2022. He was born in Lubbock on March 30, 1947. He is preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Mary Nell Strong of Lubbock, and his beloved wife of 49 years, Zelda Hull Strong.Jack graduated from Monterey High School in 1965 and Texas Tech University in 1970. He was a member of the Sigma Chi fraternity.He was in business with his father at Strong Transfer and Storage for over 40 years and more recently worked for his son at Trey Strong Custom Homes. He was very active civically, including Chairman of the United Way Campaign, President of Lubbock Lions Club 1981 and a Melvin Jones Fellow and a member of the club for 51 years, member of the Texas Tech Red Raider Club, member of Foundation Board of Directors at University Medical Center and numerous others. Besides his grandchildren, his passions were golf, hunting, and fishing.Jack is survived by his daughter Staci Heuvel (Doug) of McKinney, Texas; son, Trey Strong (Mary Kathryn) of Lubbock; sister, Linda Payne (Bill) of Dallas, Texas; Ann Thompson, his new-found love and companion, and his grandchildren, Evelyn and Jack Strong and Allie, Mitchell, Jackson and Quentin Heuvel.Family and friends will celebrate his life of 74 years at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 22, 2022, at First United Methodist Church. His family will host a time of fellowship from 12 p.m. until 2 p.m. at West Table immediately following the memorial service.
