Jackie Faye (nee Evans) Kjosa came into this world on February 16, 1944, a beautiful bundle of joy to Jewel and Edward Evans in Paris, Arkansas. She moved to Shallowater with her three sisters and her brother. In Shallowater their youngest sister was born. Jackie was preceded in death by husband Royce, her parents Edward and Jewel Evans of Shallowater, sister Carly and her husband Stan Graham of Lubbock, sister Norma Burt of Anton Texas, and sister Phyllis and her husband Carlton Peters of Lubbock. She attended Shallowater ISD where she participated in sports and various other activities.
Jackie is survived by her brother-in-law Richard Burt of Anton, her brother Charles and his wife Eugenia Evans of Garland, her sister Donna Brazell of Idalou, her two sons David of El Paso, and Jon and Lissa Kjosa of Lubbock. She is also survived by her grandsons Katon Kjosa and Kaylee Presley of Lubbock and Brek and Lara Kjosa also of Lubbock. She is further survived by numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
During her life she was able to travel the world. Shortly after her marriage in 1966, she moved to the American Protectorate of Okinawa (now part of Japan), where Jon was born. She also lived in Ellsworth AFB (Rapid City), where David was born, and Sioux Falls, South Dakota, California, Nebraska, Missouri, Kansas, and two locations in New Mexico before returning to Shallowater in 1987. She then moved to Lubbock in 2018 where she lived until her death.
She enjoyed many activities including reading, playing bridge, bowling including long bowling trips with her sister Phylis, her niece Missy Rhodes, and friends, sewing, quilting and quilting retreats, and watching her husband, children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews play sports. She also enjoyed spending time with friends and family, having meals at various locations in and near Lubbock. She enjoyed just sitting on the back porch talking or just relaxing in the fresh air. Yes, she would enjoy the time on the porch with a cigarette now and then.
She had various jobs throughout her life and travels. Upon returning to Shallowater, she first worked at Retail Merchants then moved to American State Bank (ASB). During her time at ASB she trained for and became a Licensed Massage Therapist, which she continued to do until semi-retiring in 2024.
She had a laugh that brought joy to all. Though she was not the oldest nor youngest of her siblings, she was the bridge between them all. She never met someone she did not consider a friend.
