Jackie was born in San Angelo, Texas on September 28, 1935, to W.F. (Jack) and Lydia Brown Wilson. She spent her childhood years in Mereta surrounded by close friends and cousins.
Jackie was the youngest of 3 children. She graduated from high school in San Angelo and then went on to Shannon Nursing School. Jackie spent her entire life working as a nurse and caring for others with love and kindness. She retired in 2003 from Angelo Community Hospital after almost 25 years of service to them.
She married Clyde Smith in 1961. Although they divorced in later years, they remained friends and were dedicated to their 4 children. While married, the military life had them move quite often and during those moves they were blessed to have made lifelong friends.
Jackie lived in many places over the years including Valdosta GA, San Antonio TX, Cherry Point NC, Quantico, VA, Virginia Beach VA, Ft. Worth TX, and finally back to San Angelo TX, until her move to Lubbock in 2019.
During her life, she loved entertaining and spending time with friends. She enjoyed playing Bridge, and many other card games, along with Dominoes.
Her greatest accomplishment was her family and the legacy she has left as a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and a true friend to all she met! She filled her life loving those around her!
Jackie is survived by her 3 children Mickey (Missy) Smith, Giles (Gwen) Smith, and Tonda (Glenn) Haygood. As well, she leaves behind grandchildren Rebecca Smith, Nicole Smith, Jake Smith, Trevor (Audrey) Smith, Rachel Smith, Tristan Smith (fiancée Ashley), Tori Haygood and Lexi Haygood. She also leaves behind her 3 great-grandchildren: Noah Smith, Callen Smith, and Rylie Smith.
She leaves behind many wonderful nieces, nephews, and cousins who she continued to have close relationships throughout her life.
Jackie was predeceased by her parents, sister Gedi Parmer and husband Dewey, brother Milton “Sonny” Wilson and his first wife Phyllis Wilson and second wife Patricia Wilson. She was also predeceased by her youngest son, Tony Smith and her grandson, Shayne Smith.
