

James Lee Gorsuch, a loving husband, father, and son, passed away Thursday, May 30, 2013. He was born on July 27, 1953 in Tulsa, Oklahoma to E.L. and Ethel Gorsuch. Jim attended Texas Tech University and earned a Bachelor of Arts in May of 1975 and Texas Tech University School of Law and earned a Doctorate of Jurisprudence in May of 1978. He married the love of his life, Joy, on June 17, 1984.
While establishing his private practice, Jim was respected by his peers for the character of his work. He supported the community by serving as the President of Marion Moss Enterprises (1984 - 1992) and the President, Treasurer, and member of the Board of Directors for The Volunteer Center of Lubbock (1993 - 2013). Jim was a member and chairman of the Lubbock Civil Service Commision (1985 – 1991) and a member of First Christian Church. He loved Texas Tech, football, and traveling. His favorite destination was Las Vegas, but he loved any vacation with his family. Above all, he valued family and integrity.
Jim was preceeded in death by his parents. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Joy, his son, David, his daughter Lynn and husband Tony Hartsfield, and his brother, Doug, of Sun Valley, Idaho.
Family members will be available for a visitation on Wednesday, June 5, 2013 from 6 PM – 7:30 PM at Resthaven Funeral Home. A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, June 6, 2013 at 11 AM at First Christian Church of Lubbock. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be donated to First Christian Church of Lubbock or The Volunteer Center of Lubbock.
