James Hugh Newville was welcomed into the arms of Jesus on January 5, 2026. Born in Phoenix, AZ Sept. 23, 1938, he was preceded in death by his parents, Forrest and Lois Newville, his son Stephen, and his granddaughter Emily Mulkey. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Bonnie, his sister Alicia Tredway, daughters Stephanie (Darryl) Holland and Sandra (Doug) Schlender, 15 grandchildren and 30 great grandchildren.
After graduating from Grand Canyon College in 1960, Jim worked as a technical writer in the aerospace industry, later heading electrical crews in the Dallas/Houston area, and retired from Lubbock Electric Company in 1998.
After retirement Jim and Bonnie volunteered with SOWERS and YWAM for 9 years in Christian camps across the U.S. They enjoyed playing competitive pickleball and taught the first group in Lubbock, TX. They loved spending time at their cabin in Big Bear, CA and their travels took them to Europe, China and many other countries.
Jim’s love for God and family was evident in all he did. A private family memorial service is planned for a later date.
