Jane Griffiths

Billie Jane Griffiths, devoted wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, and friend, went home to be with the Lord on February 19, 2021. Jane was born in Snyder, Texas, on April 22, 1930, to Reta Coyle and Hugh Alfred Barger. Although, she lost her mother at the age of 3, she grew up surrounded by her father, aunt, uncle, and sisters.

Jane married the love of her life, Herbert Leroy Griffiths, in Bailey County, Texas, on April 7, 1950. She devoted her life to raising her children, caring for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, investing in her community in Muleshoe, Texas, and her faith in Christ.

Herbert and Jane attended First Baptist Church in Muleshoe, Texas until they moved to Lubbock, Texas. After losing her husband, she lived in the Residences at Shadow Hills, where she enjoyed socializing with her neighbors and playing card games.

She later attended Redbud Baptist Church and became very close with the ladies in her Sunday school class. In her free time, Jane enjoyed embroidery, cooking, and playing Checkers and Crazy 8’s with her great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Herbert Griffiths, and her daughter, Monica Dunlap.

Survivors include: one sister, Donna Horsley of Benbrook, Texas; son, Prentice Griffiths of Crawford, Texas; former son-in-law, Jimmy and wife, Leigh Anne Dunlap of Lubbock, Texas; granddaughters, Sarah and husband, Todd Wyrick, Rebecca and husband, Michael Moss, Julie Neff and Hailey Wikle all of Lubbock; Kristal and husband Seth Walker of Maryville, Missouri; and Chelsea Wikle of Dallas, Texas; grandson, Jaret and wife Sharon Dunlap of Lubbock; eleven great-grandchildren: Kristin, Jas, Jalie, Parker, Peyton, Jacob, Eleanor, Luke, Tobias, Kinley, and Hailyn; and countless extended family and friends.

A Celebration of Jane’s life will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 10, 2021 in Resthaven’s Abbey Chapel. Livestream will be available on Resthaven’s Facebook.
