Janice Marie Burch, of Lubbock, Texas, passed away on March 17, 2025. She was born on September 5, 1935 in Tulia, Texas to Dennis Merrill Grabbe and Annie Mae Hamilton. She attended Silverton High School and graduated in the class of 1954. She later went on to graduate from International Business School. She retired from Texas Tech University in 2002.
Janice married Thomas Roach Adkins, Jr. on January 1, 1955 and had one child. Thomas passed away August 6, 1960. Janice then married J.D. Vernon Burch on June 15, 1962 and had three children. J.D. Burch passed away on September 4, 1993.
Janice was a proud member of RSVP (Retired Senior Volunteer Program) for 14 years. She was also very active in her church her entire life. She was a Sunday School teacher and frequently taught Vacation Bible School. She was also Church Secretary for a time at Woodrow Baptist Church. She sang in the choir for most of her adult life. She enjoyed working in her yard, gardening and watching the Texas Tech Red Raiders. She frequently attended the TTU Basketball games.
Funeral services will be held at Southcrest Baptist Church on March 21, 2025 at 10:00 AM. Visitation will be held 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Resthaven Funeral Home located 5740 West 19th Street, Lubbock, TX
Donations can be made in her honor to Southcrest Baptist Church or to Southcrest Christian School.
