

Jan passed away on February 27, 2011 after a lengthy battle with Progressive supranuclear Palsy (PSP). Thanks and love to those who helped her medi-cally and theses who provided her with friendship and love.
Jan was born Janice Higgins in Lawrence, MA on December 24, 1938 to john and Helen Higgins. She lived in the area until she met the love of her life, Harlan Cook, Jr. while he was stationed in the army at Fort Devins in MA. They were married on March 14, 1959 at Grace Episcopal Church in Lawrence, MA. They soon moved to Harlan’s hometown of Lubbock, Tx. They have lived here ever since.
She was active in bridge and belonged to several bridge groups. She belonged to the Lubbock Women’s Club, a dance club, and to St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, St. Paul’s Thrift House and Bookstore, and their Women’s Group (ECW).
She loved working at Dillard’s furniture department and took redecorating to a new level at home. She was also very sup-portive to Harlan’s career as a pharmacist and was right be-side him, when he opened his own pharmacy, Medicine Man.
Jan loved to travel and has been to England, Ireland, Italy, Switzerland, France, Puerto Rico, Virgin Islands, Bahamas, Curacao, Scotland, Nova Sco-tia, she has been to every state in the USA, and recently went to Mexico, Belize, and Guate-mala. She attended the Uni-versity of Hawaii and Cam-bridge University of England.
Proceeded in death by her mother and father, her aunt Elsie who raised her. She is survived by her husband of nearly 52 years. Her daughter, Tracy Cook-Pizzi of Fort Worth and her husband Joe, and their children Jared and Evan Rus-sum, and Ethan Pizzi. Her son, Scott Cook of Fort Worth and his son Kyle Cook. A brother, Walter Higgins of Lub-bock. She also has two great grandchildren Keegan and Aaron Russum. She also has numerous cousins in California and New England. She also has numerous cousins from Harlan’s side of the family that have been like brothers and sisters to her while she was in west Texas.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, March4, 2011 at 11 AM, At St. Paul’s Episcopal Church at 1508 Ave X, Lub-bock and a reception will follow at Harlan and Jan’s home at 1:00 PM, at 5216 27th Street, Lubbock.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to be sent to Cure PSP: PSP Foundation, Meals on Wheels, St. Paul’s Episcopal Church or your fa-vorite Charity.
