Janice was born on May 14, 1941, to James W. and Opal Audeen Glasgow, who preceded her in death, along with her sister, Mary Quenell Kincaid and husband, Lt. Col. Robert Eugene Hatcliff.
Janice lived most of her life in Lubbock, Texas, where she raised her family and built her nursing career. Beginning in 2011, she spent periods of time residing in the San Antonio area with her daughters Stacey and Randi. She lived in New Braunfels for the last five years of her life.
She leaves behind her beloved daughters, Teresa Cain and Stacey Cruz, and Randi Woolley; her cousin and dear friend, Carolyn Brackett; as well as eight grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren, three stepchildren, seven step-grandchildren, and five step–great-grandchildren, all of whom brought great joy to her life.
Education and nursing were central to Janice’s life. She earned her GED from the University of Kentucky then later in life completed prerequisite studies at South Plains College in Levelland, Texas. She graduated from Methodist School of Nursing in Lubbock in 1975, beginning a long and distinguished career as a Registered Nurse. Throughout her professional life, Janice was licensed to practice nursing in Texas, Oklahoma, and New Mexico. She was a dedicated member of the Association of Legal Nurse Consultants and the American Nurses Association. She earned her certification in Gerontological Nursing from the ANCC and completed her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at West Texas A&M University in Canyon, Texas. Janice retired having devoted decades to compassionate and skilled patient care.
Outside of her professional accomplishments, Janice found joy in simple, meaningful pastimes. She loved working jigsaw puzzles fervently and playing dominoes, bringing her competitive spirit and warm laughter to each of them. She also dearly loved playing with and walking her dog, Mia, while visiting many neighbors. These hobbies brought her great comfort, relaxation, and connection with those she loved.
Janice’s legacy is one of strength, achievement, and deep love for her family. She will be forever remembered and deeply missed by all who knew her.
