Jean Marshall

Funeral services will be held at 10am on Thursday, December 2, 2010, at Resthaven Funeral Home’s Abbey Chapel with Elizabeth Abraham officiating. Burial will follow in Resthaven Memorial Park. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 7pm to 8pm at Resthaven Funeral Home.

Jean was born on March 5, 1927, in Lamesa, to the late Charles and Lester (McCombs) Gary. She married G.R. (Bill) Marshall on July 17, 1959, in Lubbock. He preceded her in death on September 11, 1989.

Jean was very active with her family and loved playing games with her grandchildren – especially scrabble. She also loved being outdoors gardening, bird watching, and traveling. She worked as a bookkeeper for a cotton gin in Lubbock for several years.

She was preceded in death by three siblings: Nell Anderson, Calvin Gary, and Linda Elliott.

Those left to cherish Jean’s memories include five children: Bette Yeager and husband Alan Davis of New Hope, Alabama, Lannie Marshall and wife Valerie of Lubbock, Penny Wuensche and husband Doug of Lubbock, Gerald Marshall and wife Margie of Rockwall, and Joyce Petruna and husband Nick of Mesquite; nine grandchildren: Seth Wrightington, Clem Wrightington, Clay Hill, Wendy Armes and husband Greg, Stefanie Turnbow and husband Chad, Amy Wuensche, Michael Petruna and his wife Amanda, Dina Johnson, and Lennie Marshall; seven great grandchildren: Dane Armes, Zack Armes, Mason Turnbow, Jaxon Turnbow, Dylan Turnbow, Juleanne Marshall, Blake Johnson, and Brannon Johnson; a great-great granddaughter, Kaylynn Johnson; two sisters: Burl Vreeland and Charleen Bratcher; and a brother, Jerry Gary and wife Sally.
