Jean Carolyn Partlow

Jean Carolyn Partlow, aged 93, passed away peacefully on May 12, 2025 in Lubbock, Texas. She

was born on November 13, 1931 in Randall County, Texas. Jean attended Happy High School as

well as Hardin-Simmons University before settling in Lubbock. Jean’s gift of warmth and caring

touched all who met her and she truly embodied the phrase “never met a stranger.” Her love

of people was evident throughout her many years of serving customers at Dunlap’s Department

Store. Jean was a proud charter member of the congregation of Second Baptist Church where

she spent many hours celebrating her faith through volunteering on various committees and

missions.

Jean was preceded in death by her beloved husband, R.A. Partlow, her parents Amos and Jettie

Ratjen and her sister Joan McDonald. She leaves behind her sister Linda McDonald, her

daughter Cindy Showalter and her husband Mark, her son Don Partlow and his wife Barbara,

her son Dennis Partlow and his wife Michelle as well as her grandchildren Mark Steven, Kevin,

Jennifer, Amanda, Carly, Taylor and Austin. She will also be missed by several great

grandchildren and a multitude of nieces and nephews.

A graveside service for Jean will be held Monday, May 19, 2025 at 10:00 AM at Resthaven

Funeral Home & Memorial Park, 5740 West 19th Street, Lubbock, Texas 79407. Following the

graveside service will be a memorial service at 11:00 AM at Second Baptist Church, 6109

Chicago Ave, Lubbock, Texas 79424. In lieu of flowers, donations in Jean’s memory can be sent

to Second Baptist Church at the address above or through Venmo (@secondbaptistlbk).
