Jerry graduated from Texas Tech University in Spring 1973 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Horticulture. Beyond his scientific contributions, he found deep fulfillment in teaching and mentoring students from Texas Tech University and international visitors from Mali, Africa, and beyond. His journeys to Puerto Rico and Africa were more than professional travels; they were chapters in a life of purpose, sharing knowledge and building connections that lasted far beyond borders.
Above all, Jerry was the heartbeat of his family. His storytelling, quick wit, and infectious sense of humor could light up any room and turn ordinary moments into treasured memories. He lived for the simple, beautiful joys: time wrapped in the love of his wife, who was truly his everything—he her unwavering hero and champion; quiet evenings with his daughters, whose pride in him knew no bounds; and especially the pure delight of his grandchildren, whose laughter was his greatest reward. In every hug, every shared story, and every gentle word of encouragement, he poured out a love that will echo through generations. Jerry was deeply, endlessly loved, and his gentle spirit, steadfast devotion, and quiet strength will forever live on in the hearts he touched so profoundly.
