Jimmie R. Brown

Jimmie R. Brown, 77, of Lubbock, Texas passed away in Rockwall, Texas on March 27, 2012. Jimmie was born in Giddings, Texas on February 3, 1935 the son of Emmitt and Eula Brown. Jimmie served honorably in United States Navy and retired in 1979 as SCPO after 20 years of service. He also served and retired from the Lubbock County Sheriff’s Department in 1998. He was an active member of Elk’s Lodge of Lubbock. He was a loving Father and Grandfather.

Jimmie was preceded in death by his parents, Emmitt and Enla Brown and his wife of 40 years Viola Brown. Viola passed 10 years to day of Jimmie’s passing. Living relatives include his daughter Brenda Cross, his son-in-law David Cross, sister Jean Hastey, Grandsons Bradley, Bryan and Brandon Foster, Great-grandson Shawn Foster, Uncle, Cecil Brown and Aunt, Hazel Richey, step-daughter Linda Matthes and son-in-law Karl Matthes, Grandson Loren Hogue and Granddaughters, Cindy Garrett, Shellie Sanders, Leilani Echols and LeAnn Echols, and nieces Paula Gerik and Pam Shannon and numerous other relatives and friends who loved him very much.

Family will receive friends on Friday March 30, 2012 at Resthaven Funeral Home in Lubbock at 6:00 pm and the service will be held Saturday, March 31, 2012 at 10 am in Resthaven’s Abbey Chapel. Interment will follow in Resthaven Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Elk’s Lodge in Lubbock, 3409 Milwaukee Avenue, Lubbock, Texas 79407.
