Jim was born in Harlin County, KY on August 15, 1944. The son of coal mining heritage, he was the seventh son of George and Della Moses. Jim and his eleven siblings grew up in Wallins Creek, KY. He left coal mine country in the early 1960s and moved to Chicago, IL to become a machinist.
Jim and Rosemary Morgan first met in Chicago, IL in 1962. They fell in love and were married in 1965. They moved to Sharon, TN in 1972, where they operated a dairy farm for 10 years. By 1982, Jim and Rosemary's family had grown to three children. They decided it was time for a change, so they sold the dairy farm and moved to Lubbock, TX
After relocating to Lubbock, Jim worked for Bill Averitt Construction for several years. He was also a maintenance engineer for what was then Methodist Hospital in Lubbock. His final position of employment was Head Maintenance Engineer at the George H. Mahon Federal Building.
Jim was predeceased by three sisters, eight brothers, and both of his parents. He is survived by his wife Rosemary Moses of the home; daughter Tammy Pixler (Joe) of Lubbock, TX; son Russel Moses (Tracy) of Lubbock, TX; son Jason Moses (Jerame) of Dallas, TX; grandson Jimmy Ray Moses (Angelina) of Oak Harbor, WA; grandson Kane Moses (Ashley) of Lubbock, TX; six beautiful great-grandchildren; loving nieces and nephews, and a host of wonderful friends and colleagues.
The family will begin receiving guests at 9am on Wednesday, December 27, 2023 with a Celebration of Life Service to follow at 10am. Interment will follow in Resthaven Memorial Park.
