Jimmy Joe Stanford

Visitation will be Friday, April 6th from 5:00 - 7:00 pm at Resthaven Funeral Home, 5740 West 19th Street, Lubbock, TX.

Family and friends will gather on Saturday, April 7, 2018 to celebrate his life of 82 years at 10:00 am at the Broadway Church of Christ Chapel, 1924 Broadway, Lubbock, TX with burial following at Resthaven Memorial Cemetery.

Jimmy Joe was born October 19, 1935 to James Wesley and Lillian Bernice Stanford in Wichita, Falls TX. He graduated from Lubbock High School in 1954 where he was a class officer and played baseball. He graduated from Texas Tech with a degree in business in 1959 and was commissioned as an officer in the U.S. Air Force. While at Tech he was a member of Phi Delta Theta and lettered in Tech Baseball playing third base. His favorite activity was following Texas Tech sports especially Tech Baseball.

Family includes his wife of 57 years, Barbara J. Stanford; children Robin Stanford Heath and husband David of Midland; Renee Stanford Gunter of Midland; J.J. Stanford and wife Shannon of Friendswood; and Jay Curtis Stanford and wife Jen of Raleigh, N.C.; grandchildren Brittany Heath Weeks and husband Trey, Barton Gunter, Shelby Gunter, Addison Stanford, Gavin Stanford, Jaycey Stanford, and great-grandchild Bentley Weeks.
